Luke Humphreys's Preview for Cobram

Fri, 17 Jan 2020

Cobram host an eight race program for their annual Summer Cup meeting only 12 days after their Cup day. The feature race is the penultimate and looks a good contest with metropolitan standard horses such as Trendy Bromac, Scotlynn Beach, Think About Me and Franks Very Much. The first two legs of the Quaddie are open races and it will be interesting to see what happens early in those contests whilst Penny Anne, Nishabro and Pirate Bay all look very well placed throughout the afternoon.

The Moral

Race 8 - No.10 Pirate Bay

First-up for David Aiken and has had the two Shepparton trials and he can breeze here and still be too good, looks the best placed horse on the card.

Take On

Race 5 - No.4 Lifeobrian

Had his chance to get past Cresco Threepeat at Shepparton and he faces him again in a stronger race.

Best Bet(s) - $25 Win
R3 No.1 - Nishabro$2.2*
This front running mare gets every chance to break her maiden from the pole today and after last start second places in maidens at Melton and Cranbourne.
R7 No.5 - Think About Me$3*
Has trialled alright but he has shown a lot of ability and if anywhere near his peak he will take a lot of beating.
R8 No.10 - Pirate Bay$2.3*
Mentioned above as the moral, if you can get $2 at least, looks a great way to double your money.
Best Value - $25 Each-Way
R2 No.3 - Reibey Beach$2.4*
Has opened bigger than I marked her, she looks well graded in this race after not being far away at Wagga.
Best Roughie(s) - $25 Place
R1 No.1 - Rosalee Dot Com$11*
There are no real roughies today in my opinion but this mare looks to have every chance to run a drum from the pole.
R8 No.7 - Giant Jackson$4*
He won't be huge odds, as you can see I marked him as a 3/1 chance, but if he opens longer than $2 the place, it would be more than worth the investment.
